School Nutrition News

The district phone call out system for notification of low and negative balances in the student lunch account is under repair.  The process is taking much longer than anticipated.  Please, for the time being do not rely on reminder phone calls to keep your accounts in positive balance.  This system is connected to the call-in number (262) 789-6494 which does not update properly when repairs are being made.  If you need to check the balance in your student's account, please, visit www.MyLunchMoney.com. If you do not have an account set up you will need your student's ID number and a credit card for set up but you need not make any payment.  We appreciate your help and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

New Berlin West Facilities

About New Berlin West

Our School
New Berlin West, in suburban Milwaukee, Wisconsin, serves approximately 1,150 students in grades 7 through 12.  Our students have the opportunity to take a multitude of classes including 14 Advanced Placement or college-level offerings.  Emphasizing 21st century skills, the curriculum is carefully designed and implemented to meet the diversity of students needs.  Our school offers a full array of Project Lead the Way (PLTW) coursework that emphasizes the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) principles.  The facilities are state-of-the-art and include a beautiful field house with an indoor track, a Performing Arts Center, new choral, orchestra, and band rooms, and an addition to the library media center.  The traditional school day begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m.

Our Students
Our students come to us from a variety of backgrounds.  Many students enter West from public elementary schools such as Ronald Reagan, Orchard Lane, and Poplar Creek and many others come to us from private schools such as Holy Apostles, St. Luke's, Heritage Christian, and Star of Bethlehem.  We are pleased that our student body scores above the national and state averages on standardized assessments such as the ACT (Average of 23.7 during the 2008-2009 school year) and the WKCE (Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Exam).  Many of our students have also been recognized as AP Scholars and National Merit Semi-Finalists.

Our Student Centered Staff
Our dedicated faculty members have an average of 12 years teaching experience, and approximately 50 percent hold advanced degrees and several are either Nationally Board Certified or working toward this certification.  Staff members have been recognized at local, state, and national levels for contributing to excellence in education.  They offer exciting learning opportunities through and beyond the formal curriculum.

Our Parents
Parents volunteer during and beyond the school day, and their work is greatly appreciated.  Our parents' efforts result in increased opportunities for our students through career speakers, job shadowing days, and increased support for our faculty/staff through office/production room volunteers and the Annual Staff Appreciation Dinner.

Our Beliefs
1) Our students are our first priority

2) Our students deserve a quality education that is focused on their future

3) Our students should be able to access multiple opportunities to showcase their talents on a daily basis
